Polkas For Charity would like to announce its first CD project – Let’s Get This Party Started! The CD contains 13 songs recorded during the first part of 2007 featuring the following musicians and vocalists: Chris Borkowski, Ted Borzymowski, Wally Dombrowski, Gennarose, Lenny Gomulka, Greg Guzevich, Hank Guzevich, Chris Huntington, Johnny Karas, Frank Liszka, Bob McBride, Ryan Ogrodny, Rick Olaguer and Mark Trzepacz. The CD has a diverse mix of polka music styles featuring 5 original songs by Ted Borzymowski and Slovenian, Zydeco, Country and Traditional cuts.

Polkas For Charity was formed by Ted Borzymowski to bring musicians together to record Polka music and through these recordings raise money for a specific charity. All the proceeds from Let’s Get This Party Started! will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital located in Memphis, TN.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a pediatric treatment and research facility and has completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. All patients accepted for treatment at St Jude are treated without regard to the family’s ability to pay. Danny Thomas had a dream that “No child should die in the dawn of life”. I say some of the people, because there are so many to thank that I will surely miss someone. Their help has made it possible to send a first donation of $10,000.00 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN in the name of Polkas For Charity.

I thank Hank Guzevich, Gary Rhamy, Wally Dombrowski and Keith Slattery who all helped record tracks, transfer tracks and mix the CD. All the musicians who appeared on the CD – Chris Borkowski, Wally Dombrowski, Gennarose, Lenny Gomulka, Greg and Hank Guzevich, Chris Huntington, Johnny Karas, Frank Liszka, Bob McBride, Ryan Ogrodny, Rick Olaguer and Mark Trzepacz. They are some of the most recognized names in Polka music and they loaned their voices, instrumental abilities and creative talents to this project. John Borkowski who helped get this CD reproduced at Discmakers, Kevin Adams for setting up the website, Steve Litwin for his promotional expertise and Keith Stras for the mailing list.

I would like to thank all the DJs who have played this CD and donated money back for their promotional copies. A very special thanks to all the bands who have sold this CD off of the bandstand, possibly taking sales away from their own recordings – Lenny Gomulka and the Chicago Push, Polka Country Musicians, Jimmy Sturr Orchestra, Eddie Forman, Dennis Polisky and the Maestro’s Men, The Jolly Rich Orchestra, The Polish Connection, Lil’ John and the ATM Band, Tommy Thomas and The Polka Pals and The Polka Family Band.

I’d like to thank all the people who have bought one or two and sometimes five CDs. Thanks to all those who said send me 10 or 20 and I’ll sell them and send you the money. Special thanks to The Blazonczyk Family who donated all the money back from every CD sold at Seven Springs this past summer. Thanks to all the distributors out there for pushing this CD and all the clubs and promoters who have put info or links to the Polkas For Charity website on their own websites.

This CD has been special in that there is no band out there playing this music. This has basically been a grass roots effort by people in Polka music to do something good for a wonderful charity, be a positive representation of Polka music and to show just what we can do when we all work together.

I consider this a great start for the first 100 days, but the work is far from over. The holidays are coming and more CDs are purchased in November and December than in any other time of year. Give the gift of music this Christmas and holiday season and you’ll also be giving a gift to a great charity.
